This 1920s Craftsman charmer in the historic University Heights neighborhood of San Diego is all about ‘mood’. Fortunately, there were already beautifully well-preserved details like original Gumwood trim, oak flooring, built-in bookcases and a dining hutch with beveled glass doors. The goal was to merge modern and traditional characteristics with rich hues, cozy textures, and elevated furnishings. We accomplished this by incorporating designer wall finishes, custom window treatments, and a mix of contemporary & vintage furnishings that better fit the scale of the rooms. Staying true to the Craftsman era color characteristics, the palette we settled on was a blend of dark, muted blue-greens, warm browns, and burnt sienna throughout. Every room should have a unique focal point and for the dining room it was the serene bird wallpaper inspired by a 19th century English tapestry.
