This 1920s Craftsman charmer in the historic University Heights neighborhood of San Diego is all about ‘mood’. There were already beautifully well-preserved details in the home like original gumwood mouldings and trim work, oak flooring, built-in bookcases and dining hutch with beveled glass doors. The goal was to merge modern and traditional characteristics with pops of color, cozy textures, and elevated furnishings. We accomplished this by incorporating luxury designer finishes, custom window treatments, and a mix of contemporary & vintage furnishings that better fit the scale of the rooms. Staying true to the Craftsman era color characteristics, the palette we settled on was a dark, muted blue-green, warm brown and burnt sienna color combination. Every room should have an element of surprise, and for the dining room it was the whimsical bird wallpaper that stands out.
